
Prof. Anne Poelina
Professor Anne Poelina is a Nyikina Warawa Indigenous Australian. Chair & Senior Research Fellow Indigenous Knowledges Nulungu Research Institute University of Notre Dame (Broome). A poet, storyteller, global researcher holding PhD, PhD, MEd, MPH&TM, MA. Professor Poelina is an international and national award-winning Indigenous social scientist known for her conservation leadership, holding Honours like the Geoethics Medal (2024) and Bessie Rischbieth Conservation Award (2024). Awarded by the Zonta Club of Melbourne on Yarra and the Zonta International District (2023). Awarded Kailisa Budevi Earth Environment Award, International Women’s Day (2022), Co-winner of the Women Taking Climate Action Award. Named a Women’s World Summit Foundation Laureate (2017). Poelina is also a Peter Cullen Fellow for Water Leadership (2011). Anne’s aim in life is to be a good and decent human being, and to leave the earth, as a good ancestor.
