Prof. Quentin Grafton
Quentin Grafton is Emeritus Professor of Economics and Chairholder UNESCO Chair in Water Economics and Transboundary Water Governance. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia, a former President (2017-18) of the Australasian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society and an Australian Laureate Fellow (2020-25) He is the recipient of several awards for his water-related research including the Eureka Science Prize for Water Research and Innovation (one of Australia’s science ‘Oscars’), is a Distinguished Fellow of Australasian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society and has given 100+ plenary and keynote addresses and distinguished lectures in more than a dozen countries. He is included in the Top 20 economists in Australia (2023) as determined by the World’s Best Economics and Finance Scientists, is ranked in the top quintile of the Top 100,000 World Scientists (all disciplines) and in the top 20 of the world’s agricultural economists (composite publication score). He established International Day for Water Justice in 2025, founded and convenes the Water Justice Hub, co-convenes the Just Water Alliance, and is the Executive Editor of the Global Water Forum.
